Stanford Parking Garage
Client: Vance Brown Construction
Oakland

The Stanford University Medical Center required a new parking facility and turned to Vance Brown Construction to build the job. Vance Brown subcontracted with Condon-Johnson and Associates (CJA) to install 65,000 square feet of soldier pile and lagging shoring.

The Challenge
The project included a subgrade parking structure that had a footprint of approximately 72,000 square feet and a depth of 58’.

The Solution
141 soldier piles were installed to depths of 70’ with the use of a Taurus XL drill in the clayey gravel of the site. Four rows of grouted strand tiebacks were installed by Klemm using duplex drilling methods.

The Result
The entire shoring job was completed in twelve weeks at a cost of $ 1.95 million.
